Feeling sad is a mood that often occurs with it a psychological distress that sometimes do not know how to describe it. However, being embarrassed at a particular time is not enough to claim that they have depression. There's a sadness normal call, which is the state of gloom or despondency as a consequence of events or difficult personal situations. There are also what we call a good sadness, is that caused by the repentance of our sins and that we has to make amends and have more trust in God. In contrast, the poor sad is that state of soul, which the old monks known under the name of heartburn, which is characterized by the suffering of being in the world, with total disregard for life. This kind of sadness comes rather caused by the internal uncertainty and lack of self-realization; about it Casiano said:
"Sadness is harsh, impatient, hard, full of bitterness and anger, and it also characterizes kind of painful despair. When a soul takes over the private and away from any healthy labor and sorrow "(Institutions, 9).Acedia is a great temptation for the lonely and the lonely hermit modern asphalt and executive stress. The man feels transferred to the limit. Confuses the soul and the heart becomes hard. Everything is called into question and comes to child behaviors that are unthinkable. St. Gregory the Great listed the consequences of acedia as "despair, despondency, irritability, bitterness, apathy, drowsiness, boredom, self-avoidance, boredom, curiosity, dispersion in gossip, restlessness of mind and body, instability, precipitation and versatility [1].
Therefore, in the modern world there is a link between depression and heartburn, whose recovery is not achieved only through medicine, but should take account of the spiritual elements of the individual. To overcome this sadness of the soul, the venerable John Paul II proposed that "the key to helping a person with depression is love and prayer. People who care for depressed patients should help to restore self-esteem, confidence in their abilities, interest in the future, the will to live ... let them feel the tenderness of God ... On the spiritual path are helpful reading and meditating on the psalms, praying the Rosary, participation in the Eucharist, the source of inner peace " (John Paul II, XVIII International Conference on Depression.)
Where does this existential sadness? Of those key ideas that lead to discouragement or encourage it. Are those in the culture of nihilism that dominates society and has in many cases their speakers in Social Media. We mention a few: belittle the work as personal fulfillment, distortion of the bonds between men, seeing the other as hell, the Freudian psychoanalytic view that reduces man to his impulses, the same destabilization of the family, structures of sin, they have no result in the disintegration of the human person and open real pockets of depression, eventually diverting man from his path to God.
The antidote to acedia is the joy of the Christian is not like being sad, as this is very difficult to progress in the spiritual life and, therefore, love God and neighbor. Sadness predisposes to bad because it is "like a moth to the dress and the woodworm wood, so sorrow harms the heart of man" (Prov 25.20) is, therefore, to fight against this state of mind: "Go ahead then, and glad your heart, and take the grief away from you, because many killed sadness. And there is no profit in it " (Eccl. 30.24 to 25). In addition, for the simple reason that the poet tells us convert to the Catholic faith Paul Claudel: "Joy is the first and last words of the Gospel."
