MANIFESTO
On the occasion of the commemoration of November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women want to show our gratitude to the courage and bravery of so many women who, day after day, they can overcome the fear and the many barriers erected to Over centuries of male dominance, to rebel against their abuser and bring him to justice.
We are convinced that it is necessary to involve men and women of this country to fight against gender violence, because the problem is not only victims.
institutions and citizens, from any area, we have an obligation combat violence against women, and the duty to report any behavior that violates the dignity and security of women and their children.
So far this year, male violence killings reached the terrible figure, as of October 25, 2010, 64 women and 13 children.
is estimated that approximately 800,000 children suffer in their environment and with great intensity, gender violence, children in need of special protection and support of all citizens to escape the spiral of violence experienced, have suffered or will suffer.
To address this reality, innovative laws have been passed and important in terms of equality and prevention of violence against women, have enabled care resources, support and guidance for women victims of gender violence and every day are put in place measures and programs, driven by women's groups and promoted by public institutions, intend to eliminate these discriminatory and violent behavior.
But this is not enough. Tackling violence requires a commitment of each and every one of the people who make up society, a personal commitment of each institution, each group or organization.
Only then, assuming our responsibility, individually and collectively, in zero tolerance for abuse, the reporting of degrading and humiliating attitudes, we will be able to do away with the greatest scourge and tear on our society: violence against women. Because silence is the best accessory to the bullies. If aggression before and turn our heads and are silent, we are working to create spaces of impunity for perpetrators, and increase the suffering of victims.
From the conviction that there is no ideological or political barriers that prevent a common front against gender violence, we propose the signing of the manifesto by which each signatory, becomes a firm commitment to combat all forms of violence suffered women in this society, to show opposition to all those who exercise it, to promote social change through a position of zero tolerance of machismo, in short, are not complicit in the silence.
